David Cameron wants to kidnap Sachin Tendulkar to coach England

England have endured a gruelling Test series against India where they are already 2-0 down in the five-match Test series while also suffering multiple injuries to key players such as Stuart Broad, Haseeb Hameed, Zafar Ansari. With all signs pointing to this only getting worse for the visitors, former British Prime Minister David Cameron joked that the only way out for England is to kidnap Indian great Sachin Tendulkar to train them.

“Given the way the Test series (between the two countries) is going… we need to kidnap him (Tendulkar)… for training,” he said, while speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership summit on Saturday.

Speaking about the things he loves about India, Cameron said, “Every time I come (to India), I am blown away by the progress and the potential that I see.”

Tendulkar also spoke at the event, saying that it is not about Test cricket as a whole, but the lack of big rivalries that have become a cause of concern in Test cricket.

"Test cricket is not dying. It’s about the big rivalries. There was a time when everyone wanted to beat West Indies. Then came Australia. These rivalries are dying," said the Master Blaster.

Speaking about the rivalry he shared with Australian great Glenn McGrath, Tendulkar said, "Getting not angry on a cricket field was a strategy. The battle against McGrath was great. We fought on the field, but off it, we were great friends."

The legendary batsman also suggested at a format of playing home and away Tests, which was as follows,”It will be a good idea to play back-to-back Test matches on a home-and-away basis. It will make the matches more exciting. Let India host two Tests at home and then let England host India in the next two. Don’t know if that ever will be possible,” the 43-year old said.
