India vs England | James Anderson ruled out of final Test
England seamer James Anderson has been ruled out of the final Test against India in Chennai, skipper Alastair Cook confirmed on Thursday. With the pace spearhead feeling sore after the last Test in Mumbai, the England management has decided not to risk him for the final Test.
England pace spearhead James Anderson will not be playing in the fifth and final Test against India in Chennai due to body soreness.
"It is a bit of everything, ankle and shoulder. A bit of bowling soreness. We are trying to look after him," confirmed England captain Alastair Cook, reported BBC Sport.
Anderson missed the first Test of the series in Rajkot after having suffered a stress fracture in his right shoulder in August. However, England's leading wicket-taker joined the squad ahead of the second Test in Visakhapatnam but has so far picked up only four wickets in the series.
Meanwhile, there are chances that Stuart Broad, who picked up an injury in the second Test, might play in the fifth Test after training with the team.
The fifth Test between India and England will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai and will start on December 16.
