Come late and pay $50 as fine, Indian team coach Anil Kumble has told his players. The former leg-spinner has enforced some strict rules after taking charge in a bid to instil discipline in the young team and has also told the players that an official meeting will be held every fourth day.

Although the team enjoyed a day out yesterday in Nevis in the Caribbean islands, the coach has set some strict rules for the young team to follow during their tour. According to a report in the Indian Express, the legendary leg-spinner has asked his players to follow a proper code of conduct in the team. In their first meeting in the Caribbean, Kumble told the players that anyone coming late will be fined $50 as fine and an official meeting will be held every fourth day. The coach has also tried to streamline the roles of the support staff and has told the players that his door will be open for any player who wants to have a chat.

“Everything is organised. Kumble wants players to understand the importance of discipline and, at the same time, give them freedom. He knows where to draw the line. The Indian team is scheduled to go for scuba diving in the coming days. These small things have been kept for the players to unwind,” a source travelling with the team said, reported the Indian Express.

The 45-year-old had already floated a few ideas during the Indian team’s camp at Bengaluru and had enforced the ‘Buddy programme’ in the team, where two players are paired with each other. The coach has also asked for feedback and complaints from the players to ensure that it is not a one-sided affair.

“Players have been saying how the board doesn’t inform them about the schedule in advance. The BCCI will look into it and plan accordingly,” a BCCI official said.
