MS Dhoni: Don't think my daughter still recognises me
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s sense of humour during press conferences has been as famous as his finishing skills. It again came to the fore on Wednesday, when the Indian captain was asked about the long break from International cricket with India not playing ODIs until October.
After the completion of the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, Indian captain MS Dhoni will not be seen in India colours for the next three months with the country’s next ODI series scheduled to come only in October against New Zealand. With Captain Cool forced to go through a long break, he was asked about his plans for the break during the post-match press conference, and the Indian captain responded with a tongue-in-cheek reply.
"I think after a long time, I will take some time off cricket after this series (T20Is). Don't think my daughter (15-month old Ziva) still recognises me. I will make my daughter feel that I am her dad and spend time with family," the skipper said, reported PTI.
When asked about his team’s performance in the series, the skipper seemed satisfied with the effort put by the bowlers after India bowled out Zimbabwe all three times in the series.
"I think the execution has been really good, and that's the key factor. The fast bowlers and the spinners have taken wickets at some point of time and put pressure on the opposition, so I am happy with the bowling performance.
"I don't mind winning games easily, that's what you are supposed to do. It would have been nice if a few of the other batsmen would have had a break," Dhoni said after the match.
