MS Dhoni will mentor a residential cricket academy in Bengal that has been established by former Bengal cricketer and his longtime friend Subhomoy Das. The state-of-the-art academy, situated in Barasat in 24 Parganas, is expected to begin operations in the first week of April.

"It was Dhoni’s wish that I initiate a residential cricket school in Bengal. Dhoni used to tell me that the project should be made in a way where the students can both study and learn cricket. So, we have designed the project in a manner where we will have a school along with modern and scientific infrastructure,” Das told reporters.

The academy was originally planned to be established in Ranchi, but the management couldn't procure the required 200 acres of land.

"It will be the first time Dhoni will actively work as batting coach and mentor in a academy. At the same time, he will also assist our wicket-keeping coach in the subject. So, before starting his job Mahi has also taken required suggestions from Rahul (Dravid) and Sachin (Tendulkar) also," Das said.
