Spinner Nathan Lyon has said the Australian team will try to adapt quickly to whatever conditions they get in India and that the squad understands the four-Test tour is not going to be easy. The Steven Smith-led side is currently in Dubai undergoing special preparation to tackle spin.

"It's going to be hot over in India and we are just going to adapt to whatever conditions thrown our way and really compete hard with India," Lyon was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

The squad is training at the ICC’s Dubai centre, which has different types of artificial wickets.

"It's been going really well. Been here for a week and it's been really, really beneficial. Lot of communication between each other. The boys are training hard," said Lyon.

"First ever time training in Dubai leading into a series, that's a little bit different I guess, but we are working as a group really well together. There's been a lot of communication between batters and bowlers, and I think that's really crucial."

The first Test starts in Pune on Feb 23.

"We are trying to improve on all different areas basically, but trying to really understand how to play spin and come up with a decent plan for our batters and also for our bowlers," Lyon said..

"We need to be really thankful and grateful for the ICC ground-staff to come out and prepare wickets that are mainly spin friendly, so it's been absolutely brilliant. We learned a lot from those and hopefully, we can learn a lot in the next couple of days and get a good shot before we go to India.”

Speaking about the disappointing Sri Lanka tour last year, Lyon said, "It was disappointing. Going over there and losing 3-0 wasn't the best tour to be a part of, but that was a learning curve, and I think we are in a better place now for that experience over in Sri Lanka."
