An Englishman has gazed into his crystal ball and made some bold predictions about the upcoming Australia’s tour of India. According to his prediction for the 4th Test match at Dharamsala, India will score 822 and cruise to the win by an innings and 6 runs and will also win the series comfortably.

From reddit.com/r/Cricket:

Australia 415 (Smith 163 NO, Warner 125; Ashwin 4-117, Jadeja 3-91) and 401 (Smith 108, Agar 98, Handscomb 56; Jadeja 3-77). India 822 (Kohli 395 NO, Nair 99, Patel 86, Pujara 58; Starc 4-126).

Five days of scintillating stroke play concluded late on the final day when Lyon, Australia’s last man, was trapped lbw by Umesh Yadav with the visitors needing just six more runs to make India bat again. In consequence Australia suffered the distinction of being the first side in the history of test cricket to lose by an innings despite having scored more than 400 runs in each of their innings.

This was made possible by aggressive batting, old fashioned over rates (on India’s part) and some poor fielding. Both teams played three spinners, Agar being preferred to the unfortunate Mitchell Marsh by Australia. After Smith won the toss, Warner launched the Australian effort with customary aggression. Undeterred by the early loss of Renshaw and Khawaja, the Australian vice-captain attacked at every opportunity and seemed to rattle the Indian bowlers who lost both length and direction. Dropped three times before lunch (twice by Pujara, once badly) and benefiting from some sloppy ground fielding, Warner appeared destined to be the first man to score two test match hundreds before lunch until he was pegged back by Ashwin during the last half hour and had to settle for 95 of his team’s 140 runs in 32 overs. After the interval Warner was less assertive as the Indian spinners, Jayant Yadav in particular, regained their poise and raced through the overs. Smith, however, began to pick up the slack so that the scoring rate hovered around four an over. His stand with Warner was worth almost 150 runs when Warner was unexpectedly lured out of his ground and beaten in flight by Ashwin.
