Indian blind cricket team captain Ajay Kumar Reddy has released a video via Twitter to clarify the controversy surrounding Virendra Sehwag's tweet after India lifted the World Cup. Sehwag had been criticized on social media for calling the blind cricketers the "other men in blue."

"Congratulations to our #OtherMenInBlue on winning the T20 World Cup for the Blind. They have lit up smiles for a billion people," Sehwag had tweeted after India won the match by nine wickets.

After some backlash on social media, most online and written publications had released a Reddy quote stating, “We wear the same blue jersey, represent the same tri-colour and play with equal pride and passion then why term us as ‘other’? It is appreciable that he congratulated us but then we are no others. We too are the men in blue.”

The Indian blind cricket team captain, in the tweet, said that his words were misinterpreted by the media and that he had not intended to be critical of Sehwag.

"I am very upset today because Viru Bhaiya (Virendra Sehwag) congratulated our cricket team, referring to us as the "other men in blue", which gave our team a lot of joy. But the media have just shown it with the opposite light. That is why I am upset," Reddy said in the tweet released by Blind Cricket.

"I want to tell the media to confirm whatever they are publishing at least 10 times. I am really upset because Sehwag is my favorite player and he tweeted about our success but the media turned against him. This is not right."

"We got a lot of support after the win. A number of famous people tweeted about our cricket which made us happy but what came out in the papers has really upset me."

Established media houses like the Hindustan Times and The Indian Express had carried the story, and we had uncritically sourced the quotes, allegedly said, and now revealed to have not been said, by the Indian Blind team Captain. We, however, had desisted from the editorial storm directed at Virender Sehwag for what was. at a cursory glance, an issue made out of nothing. We, however, apologize for being party to the media upheaval around the issue.

Retweeting the video, Sehwag said, "Don't be upset Ajay. You &your boys are truly inspiring. Will meet soon. Media, I think u can do better than clickbait. Positive news works.Try."
