SC appoint ex-CAG Vinod Rai, of 2G scam fame, as BCCI head

The Supreme Court also appointed Amitabh Chaudhary and Vikram Limaye as BCCI's representatives for the upcoming ICC meetings.

Although the Supreme Court were expected to name the administrators last Tuesday, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi requested the court to delay the proceedings for another two weeks, as the central government was thinking about bringing in a sports code. 

Following that, the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra allowed the BCCI to suggest the name of eligible administrators in a sealed envelope by January 27.

The committee of administrators will take charge with immediate effect and liaise with the BCCI's chief executive officer Rahul Johri. The members will also represent the BCCI almost too soon after taking charge at the ICC Committee in February first week.

Vinod Rai shot into fame for bringing the 2G telecom scam to light and had followed it up with his upright stance on the Commonwealth Games scam and the Coalgate scam during the previous Central administration.

Ramachandra Guha, who has been appointed as a member of the committee, has been a columnist for publications like The Telegraph and The Hindustan Times. His book ‘A Corner of a Foreign Field: The Indian History of a British Sport’ gained wide acceptance in all over the world.
