India will lose out on an opportunity to compete in the finals of the ICC Women's World Cup if their semi-final against Australia is washed out with the Aussies going into the finals of the tournament with more wins in the group stages. England have already seized a spot in the finals at Lords.

Australian women's team hold a huge advantage over the Indian women's team as things stand at Derby with rains threatening to abandon the match today.

According to the rules and regulations of the tournament, there is a reserved day tomorrow for the semi-final game in case of rains washing out the game today. However, judging by the weather conditions in England the possibility of the same circumstances reoccurring tomorrow cannot be ruled out and it could be a big blow to the hopes of millions of Indian fans who are awaiting the team to bring home the title for the first time in the history of women's cricket.

In case the match is abandoned without reaching a conclusive result, the Australian women's team will go into the finals owing to their six wins in the group stages of the tournament as opposed to India's five.

Meanwhile, England have already secured a place in the final at Lords on Sunday after defeating South Africa by 2 wickets in a nail-biting semi-final encounter on Monday.
