Ravindra Jadeja once again showed why he is considered the best fielder in the Indian side as he took a stunning catch on the deep midwicket boundary line to dismiss Mitchell Starc off Ravichandran Ashwin on the third day of the second India-Australia Test in Bengaluru.

India’s catching has been off the mark in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series so far, but Jadeja, who missed a chance at extra-cover on the second day, redeemed himself with a wonderful catch in the deep on Monday.

Starc, who was batting on 26, attempted a slog-sweep off Ashwin in the 118th over of Australia’s first innings. The southpaw did not connect it well, but for a moment it appeared like he would be able to beat Jadeja, who was standing about 15 metres inside the boundary ropes. However, the Indian all-rounder ran back, judged it beautifully, and timed his jump perfectly to pluck the ball out of thin air, before balancing himself in front of the rope.
