Following Cricket Australia's decision to pick Pat Cummins to replace Mitchell Starc for the remaining Tests against India, fans on Reddit had their say on the youngster's selection. The conversation shifted from players who were more deserving of a call-up to why Cummins would be the key man now.

While some welcomed the inclusion of Cummins, some are still unsure of his fitness levels given that he has played only one Harris Shield game prior to his inclusion. Others doubted Australia’s selection policy, compared to countries like South Africa, given their fast bowling options.

Here is what the fans had to say :

Well If Cummins survives these two tests uninjured. I think the selectors are clear on the fast bowling this summer, Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins. Jesus that is going to be good.

Jackson Bird is going to play in the test, no way Cummins gets the call-up. Cummins is just going to be the reserve quick, plus he was going to play in the ODIs anyway.

Bollocks really. You got blokes like sayers taking 50 wickets in a season. A like for like replacement in Berhendorff taking 9 in a shield match and you go for the guy who's played one SS match in 6 years? Gotta be tough for those blokes grinding in the first class system thinking they've got no chance of a test call up.

Played his first Shield game in six years? Better rush him straight into the test side. Will be a tragedy that is 100% the selector's fault if he breaks down again.
