Watch | Virat Kohli hits back at Australia for injury mock
When Glenn Maxwell put his hand to his shoulder mocking the injured Virat Kohli, little would he have known that it would come back to haunt him. Kohli isn't a player who would just let the incident pass as he showed today with a taunt of his own by holding his shoulder after David Warner's wicket.
Yesterday, Maxwell had saved a run for his team after chasing the ball all the way to the ropes and followed that up by mocking Kohli by holding his shoulder while grinning the entire time. The gesture was aimed at the Indian captain, who had injured his shoulder while similarly saving a boundary for his team.
After a brilliant batting display by India on Day 4, where India took a lead of over 150 runs, Kohli sent Australia in to bat again. On the first ball of the sixth over, Warner was unable to pick up a Jadeja delivery that went on to hit his stumps after pitching on the rough outside off stump.
With the Test leaning in India's favour, Kohli picked the opportune moment to exact his revenge. The Indian captain, while celebrating, tapped his injured shoulder multiple times while looking at the visitor's dressing room.
However, as the players came over to celebrate with him, Jadeja jumped on his injured shoulder and Kohli grimaced with pain. It is highly unlikely that the Indian captain would have to come out to bat again in this Test so no damage was done - apart from the burn that the Aussies would be facing today.
