Bishan Singh Bedi hails Ravindra Jadeja's contributions as 'remarkable'

The outcome of the four-match Test series between India and Australia hangs in the balance after the tourists saved the third Test in Ranchi on a remarkable final day as the series remains open 1-1 going into the decider in Dharamsala on March 25.

Jadeja has been one of India’s star performers in the ongoing series and has deservedly got plenty of credit for the same. The left-arm spinner picked up six wickets in Bengaluru and a match-haul of nine wickets in Ranchi.

The left-arm spinner has managed to torment the Australian batsmen with his variations and has made the most of the spin on offer. In the process, he has caused much more discomfort to the Aussies than his experienced counterpart Ashwin.

“Ravindra Jadeja has grown immensely as a player. He is bowling brilliantly and his contribution with the bat has also been wonderful. He is getting closer to Ravichandran Ashwin. Both are performing well for the side and supporting each other. So there is no comparison between them,” Bedi said.

Jadeja has enjoyed a fruitful home season as he has captured  67 wickets, including four five-wicket hauls. Although he started out as a batsman who could bowl, he has now established himself as an asset in both aspects. In fact, Jadeja has now edged out Ashwin as the top-ranked Test bowler. His average of 22.98) s also better than Ashwin’s after 12 matches of the home Test season.

Further, things have been warming up between India and Australia on the pitch once again with both skippers, Virat Kohli and Steve Smith leading the tussle after Maxwell mocked Kohli’s shoulder injury in the third Test. Addressing this issue, Bedi simply said, ‘two wrongs don’t make a right.’  

This latest incident is keeping in tradition with the feisty encounters that the two teams have been involved in in the past.
