Sachin Tendulkar reveals the creator of the iconic 'Sachin Sachin' chant
Sachin Tendulkar revealed that it was not the Indian fans whom he heard chanting 'Sachin Sachin' for the first time but it was his mother who first came up with the iconic hymn. Sachin was speaking post the release of a song from his movie Sachin: A Billion Dreams which will be released on 26 May.
Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket in 2013 but still rules the hearts of millions of cricket fans all over the world. The legend's presence at any stadium was made evident by the chants of 'Sachin Sachin' from the fans. The chant was believed to be an outcome of the fandom the cricketing god had obtained over the course of his years while delivering splendid performances.
However, the belief was false as revealed by the Master-Blaster himself, who attributes the creation of the chant to his mother.
"I never thought 'Sachin Sachin' (chant) would continue beyond my playing days. It has now gone to the theaters. So I feel happy," the 44-year old said.
"My mother started it actually. I used to go play downstairs and to call me back home, mother would call 'Sachin Sachin'," Tendulkar said when asked when he had first heard the chant.
The poster of the movie features a young Tendulkar holding the bat and the right-handed batsman shared with the world the moment when the picture was taken.
"This was actually taken at home when I was playing with my brother. This was in the balcony. I was only four or five then. My positions weren't perfect. What I enjoyed was, hitting the ball. Be it a cricket bat or a tennis racket. My brother would chuck tennis ball, few I used to hit from cricket bat, few from rackets.", Sachin told PTI.
Did you know, Sachin Tendulkar has more ODI 5 wicket hauls than Shane Warne.
