While playing for English County side Somerset, South African batsman Dean Elgar suffered a humiliating dismissal as he was bowled by 20-year old Hampshire leg-spinner Mason Crane. A delivery that bounced twice left both Elgar and Crane embarrassed as it fired into the Elgar's stumps.

With 259 needed to win, Somerset began Day 3 with Dean Elgar and Marcus Trescothick reaching 58 without loss. However, Somerset's dominance was short-lived as three quick dismissals in the space of 15 runs followed. Despite a half-century from Elgar, it was Hampshire who were able to turn the tables and register a 90-run victory, putting them on top of Division One.

But Dean Elgar’s effort and good form with the bat at Taunton on day three was completely overshadowed by one of the most bizarre dismissals. The Protean opener was going well batting on 60. Despite being the top-scorer in the match, all he would remember is the dismissal that followed in the second innings.

Mason Crane, on the contrary, had a memorable match considering even the strangest delivery bowled by him bagged a wicket. In an attempt to bowl a half-track leggie to the batsman, Crane either lost grip of the ball on his delivery or completely mistimed his release, but it fired straight into Elgar’s stumps.

The ball pitched on the middle of the surface before it turned viciously resulting in a double bounce. Somerset's opener, deceived, attempted a sweep but it went under his bat and through his legs before skipping off the turf for a second time and hitting the base of the timber. Though disbelief and embarrassment were mutual for both the bowler and the batsman it was Elgar who had to make the long walk back to pavilion.

Finally, although it's hard to conclude who among the two was more embarrassed because of the incident, it was certainly a moment to remember for being one of the most bizarre dismissals ever.
