When Hardik Pandya took Martin Guptill’s catch in the first T20I in Delhi, every cricket fan was left in awe watching the athleticism and sheer brilliance of the catch. However, in a National T20 Cup game, not only did Ahmed Shehzad recreate the catch, he completed the task with just one hand.

In the 15th match of the National T20 Cup in Rawalpindi, Ahmed Shehzad’s 22-ball half century had guided Lahore Blues to 173/6 against Peshawar. But that didn’t mean that the batsman’s contribution for the game was done as Peshawar were fighting back by putting up the numbers quickly.

The incident occurred on the fourth ball of the 13th over with the scoreboard reading 116/4 against Peshawar’s name. Musadiq Ahmed, batting at 14 off 12 balls decided to charge down the pitch against spinner Agha Salman. The batsman reached the pitch of the ball and attempted to loft the ball over long on for a maximum and when the ball left his bat that is what he would have believed as well. Shehzad, who was fielding at long on, had to sprint to his right to get to the ball and upon realizing that he wasn’t going to get there on time, he put in a Hardik Pandya-esque full stretched dive and managed to catch the ball with one hand.

Eventually, it was the Lahore Blues who edged out Peshawar by three runs to secure the points. For his exceptional knock and catch, Shehzad was awarded the Player of the match alongside Ali Shafiq.
