Yashasvi Jaiswal's ton guides India U-19 to series win against depleted Sri Lanka

India U-19 was on its tour of Sri Lanka which began on 17th of July. So far, they have successfully showcased a consistent performance in their Test series by winning both the matches. With an equal footing of 2-2 in the series, India U-19 played their fifth one day international against Sri Lanka today in order to decide the winner. Hence both teams were all set to perform their best in order to seal the series. 

India chose to field first and managed to restrict Sri Lanka to a minuscule score of 212 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Mohit Jangra proved to be the best bowler in the team as he picked two wickets by conceding only 30 runs.  Sri Lanka's Madushka Fernando managed to stand strong at the crease and tried to hold the game in their favour as he scored a beautiful knock of 95 runs in 136 balls with seven boundaries before Jangra succeeded in dismissing him leg before. He added 101 runs for the third wicket with Keshawa Fernando who scored 56 runs. Once Keshawa was dismissed, Madhushka went into a shell and the Indian left-arm spinners Siddharth Desai (1/33) and Harsh Tyagi (1/43) restricted the Sri Lankan batsmen as well. 

Team India then knocked off the target within 42.4 overs. The chase was never a big deal for India as Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was earlier dropped for poor performance, made a very strong comeback after being promoted up in the batting order. Jaiswal managed to hit a brilliant knock of 114 runs within 128 balls in which he hit 8 fours and 3 sixes. Jaiswal also stood strong on one end of three good partnerships that he maintained during the chase. The first partnership being of 71 runs for the opening stand with Devdutt Padikkal (38), the second of 72 runs for the second wicket with Pawan Shah (36), and the third partnership of 69 for the unbroken third wicket stand with skipper Aryan Juyal (22) made India's victory a cake walk.
