India vs Australia | Reports suggest Aaron Finch’s finger injury cleared as not a major one

Aaron Finch decided to retire hurt mid-way through his innings earlier today on the personal score of 25 runs after he was struck hard by a Mohammed Shami delivery. But now the reports have come in that the right-hander has been cleared of any major injury which would come in as a shy of relief for the Australian camp. Finch had made a half-century in Australia’s first innings of the ongoing Test match and was also looking in good touch today during the 2nd innings.

Even before this match, Finch was struck on the same finger during the practice sessions before the Test series had started. The culprit then was Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. The pacer hoped that the right-hander would be able to recover in time and contribute more to the Australian lead which has already touched the 175 runs with six wickets remaining. 

"I think that's the third time he's been hit on it in the last four weeks. So not ideal. Unfortunately, I was one of those ones that got him. Hopefully, it goes okay overnight and he can keep batting tomorrow at some point," Starc told Fox Sports.

Though major injury concerns have been averted, it has not been made clear what will be Finch’s role in the ongoing Australian innings at the Perth Stadium. With four wickets down and a lead of 175 runs, couple more wickets will see Australia’s tail being exposed after which Finch’s contribution with the bat could come handy for the Australian team.

 "I think his finger is still numb. I think they put some stuff in it, but we'll see how it goes overnight.  

"There's a bit of swelling there and he will, I guess, spend the night with the doctors as well and test it out in the morning to see if he can keep batting."
