VIDEO | Rashid Khan invents ‘Dhobi Pachhad’ shot to smash Coulter-Nile for a six

Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers were up against each other during one of the games in the ongoing Big Bash League and that is where Rashid Khan surprised everyone with the amazing hit which went all the way for a maximum. The Strikers were batting first and at one point of time, they were in dire straits with the scoreboard reading 46/7 after 12 overs.

The World’s best T20I bowler then came out to bat for the Adelaide Strikers and he played a lot better than the top-order batsmen for the team from Adelaide. The Afghan all-rounder scored 21 off just 12 deliveries and his short but impressive cameo included two fours and two hits over the ropes as well. 

The most interesting of all the hits was the new improvisation that he came up with during the game. It was the last ball of the 13th over with Nathan Coulter-Nile in the bowling attack. The bowler banged the ball short to surprise Rashid who is a lower order batsman but instead of that the bowler was shocked with the hit from Rashid’s bat. He got into a good position and just like a badminton player hitting a forehand smash, Rashid cleared the rope with a new shot which we have decided to term as the ‘Dhobi Pachhad’ which in Hindi means the act beating of clothes by washermen in India. The ball went all the way over the long leg fence for half a dozen from Rashid’s bat.
