VIDEO : Mathew Wade does an MS Dhoni; claims three Queensland scalps with the ball

The 16th match of the Sheffield Sheild tournament is going on in Brisbane between Queensland and Tasmania where the latter won the toss and elected to bat first. With the help of the Matt Renshaw’s half-century and Luke Feldman’s 47-run knock, Queensland scored 255 in the first innings. In response, Tasmania managed only 115 runs as Feldman claimed six wickets while conceding only 32 runs.

Everything was not going well for the Tasmanian team as opposing team’s players continued to pile on runs and at on time Queensland’s score was 259 for 7. Wade, knowing the necessity of wickets for the team, decided to take things literally into his own hands as he took a position at the bowling end to control the run-flow.

He got his first success in the first delivery of the 88th over of Queensland’s second innings in the form of Mitch Swepson. He targeted Jimmy Perison, who was batting at 61 runs, and in the 90th over he got the wicket of the skipper. After just two overs, he ended the opponent’s innings by claiming Brendan Doggett’s wicket. The 30-year-old, who bowls right-arm medium pace, delivered 3.4 overs while grabbing three wickets. He surprised everyone with his effective bowling spell which helped his side restrict Queensland to 285 with Tasmania needing 425 runs to win. 

Wade’s effort seemed similar to MS Dhoni, who took the ball charge during 2009 ICC Champions Trophy. While playing against Windies, Dhoni tried his hand in bowling and successfully marked the event by claiming Travis Dowlin’s scalp. It was a one-sided affair for the Indian side as they won the game easily by seven wickets.
