Mumbai Indians skipper and Indian opener Rohit Sharma added another feather to his cap by becoming the first Indian cricketer to throw the 'First Pitch' ahead of the Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field. Rojit is currently on a three-city US tour as part of 'Desh-Legends of Cricket Series’.

Team India is currently preparing to face Afghanistan in their historic debut Test match in Bangalore, but some of the players have been rested with the crucial England tour coming up. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, who is injured at the moment, among others have been given some rest to recuperate and prepare themselves for a lengthy season up ahead.

While others have chosen to kick back and spend some time at home with family, Rohit had other plans in mind. The MI skipper recently became the first Indian cricketer to make the ceremonial 'First Pitch' at the Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field in the US. On June 4, as part of pregame activity threw the ceremonial first pitch before the MLB at the Safeco Field, home ground of Seattle Mariners who took on the Tampa Bay Rays after that.

The Major League Baseball tournament is the American equivalent of the Indian Premier League and has a huge fan following in the US like the IPL has all across the globe. The MLB is composed of 30 teams: 29 in the United States and one in Canada. American and Canadian Baseball clubs have always had a historic ritual of inviting a guest of honor to throw out a ceremonial first pitch which signaled the start of a game.

The Indian vice-captain is managed by IMG Reliance Talent Management and is currently on a three-city US tour as part of 'Desh-Legends of Cricket Series'. Rohi will be visiting San Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle and Los Angeles where he will participate in a series of cricket clinics and fan meet and greets.
