State associations to be categorised in groups by CoA

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) is due to submit the status report to the Supreme Court about the states' compliance with the recent Apex court's ruling on adopting the BCCI's new constitution. The CoA is likely to segregate the state units into three categories. The new constitution is in line with the reforms listed by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee.

The BCCI’s new constitution sees a few tweaks from the Justice Lodha Committee recommendation. The first major change is the “One State one vote” policy. Among other changes major ones are, the restored policy of five selectors and the establishment of an Apex council to professionally administer and manage the affairs of BCCI.

Depending on their response to the Apex Court's order on adopting the BCCI's constitution, the CoA will be categorizing the 34 state units out of the 37 that have communicated. Sources said that the first category would include the states which have readily accepted the new SC norms. The second category is those states which are in contempt of the Supreme Court order while the third would be those units who are in total disobedience.

A total of 12 states have complied as per the Supreme Court order while eight to nine states have come under the category of the Contempt of Court while the others are falling in the total disobedience group. Even if states have problems with the new BCCI constitution, they will still have to follow it as the Supreme Court has approved it.
