Former India captain MS Dhoni’s allegations over the protection of his ownership rights over 20 lakhs worth of a penthouse in the Amrapali project would be heard by Supreme Court on April 30. A valuer is also appointed to find the exact price of unsold flats including those booked by Amrapali.

Amrapali Group of builders had begun 10 years ago in Greater Noida with the Chairman & Managing Director of the project being IIT alumnus Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma. And the former Indian skipper was endorsed as their brand ambassador for this project.

However, things soon turned ugly with numerous home buyers and creditors being hassled by the group of builders by not giving their possession in the flats they had paid for. MS Dhoni, who had booked a penthouse for 20 lakhs on August 31 of 2009, was also duped by the builders.

The Supreme Court has now directed the forensic auditors to issue an individual notice to home-buyers who had booked flats on a paltry sum. Dhoni has sent an allegation to the apex court that since he was a brand ambassador for the project he was given a penthouse for a lower price and that the amount was not paltry.

“It is respectfully submitted here that the price paid by the applicant is certainly not a paltry amount,” he said, reported PTI

The apex court has expressed annoyance after finding reports of the forensic auditors, which have been circulated among the lawyers of Amrapali groups. The Supreme Court has announced that it would hear the pleas of the home buyers on April 30.

On February 28, the apex court ordered Delhi police to arrest  Amrapali group CMD Anil Sharma and two directors on a complaint that home-buyers of their various housing projects were cheated and duped of their funds. The court has also appointed a valuer to ascertain the exact value of 5,229 unsold flats including those booked by Amrapali for just Rs 1, Rs 11 and Rs 12 and asking the valuer to submit its report.
