Brad Haddin appointed Sunrisers Hyderabad’s assistant coach

Former Australian vice-captain Brad Haddin will be a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad contingent in the league’s next season in the capacity of assistant coach. He will be replacing Simon Helmot in the post and will be working under fellow Australion Trevor Bayliss, who will also be in his debut season with the franchise. He has replaced Tom Moody in the post.

Haddin has past experience as a coach having been named Australia A’s head coach in early 2017. Later that year in August, he took up the post of the senior team’s fielding coach that he served for a couple of years before making his next move.

Haddin also had a very successful playing career, having made his name as one of Australia’s greatest wicket-keeper batsmen. He managed to accumulate nearly 200 caps combined in Tests and ODIs, scoring a total of 6,388 runs at an average more than 30.

He has also had an experience of playing under Bayliss, having led his former BBL team the Sydney Sixers to the Champions League T20 title in 2012 as its skipper, while Bayliss was the coach of the team. Haddin has also played for the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be playing their eighth edition in the cash-rich tournament, having won the trophy in 2016 before ending as runners-up in 2018. The franchise has been making the playoffs for four years running and Haddin will be looking forward to helping the team go that extra mile.
