India vs New Zealand | Very pleased to see how we bowled today, reveals Rohit Sharma
Stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma lavished praise on the Indian bowling department, who impressed in India’s second T20I win against New Zealand at Eden Park on Friday. Man of the match Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets while Khaleel Ahmed notched up two wickets to level the series at 1-1.
The Indian cricket team registered an important seven-wicket win against New Zealand in the second T20I at Eden Park in Auckland to level the three-match series and set up a thrilling final. After a below par outing in the opening game, the Indian bowling attack found their rhythm once again as they put in a brilliant performance to dismantle the Kiwi top-order and seize control of the game in the first innings.
Stand-in India captain, Rohit Sharma, heaped praise on the bowlers as he added that it was important for the young pacers to learn from the mistakes they made in the first match.
"Very pleased to see how we bowled and then we were clinical with the bat as well. We didn't execute the plans in the first game, we executed them here and got the reward for it. It's important to understand the mistakes we made. We wanted the guys to go out there with a clear mind. We have got quality in our side and we are looking forward to the next game. Hopefully, we can do what we did today," Sharma said at a post-match conference.
Man of the match, Krunal Pandya, who ended the game with figures 3/28 from his four overs was satisfied with his performance as he said that, "It felt really nice to contribute and it's always special when the team wins. You have to adapt according the ground, and I think I did that well."
Meanwhile, losing captain Kane Williamson admitted that it was always going to be difficult to replicate the performance from the impressive eight-wicket win in Wellington. Williamson, who fell victim to a Krunal Pandya delivery in the first innings, said that there were a lot of things to learn from the unfortunate loss in Auckland.
"I suppose the performance of Wellington was always going to be difficult to replicate. Slightly more tricky at times here. There a lot of learnings. Look, you still need to come out and play with freedom. Often we come here, often brilliantly cricket matches. Brilliant crowd today. One-all in the series, hopefully we will get another outstanding crowd," Williamson added.
Sharma & Co. will face-off against the Kiwis in a do-or-die finale in Hamilton on Sunday to determine the winner of the ongoing T20I series.
