Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has lauded the performance of MS Dhoni as he compared the Indian wicket-keeper to popular supercar brand - Aston Martin. Dhoni was adjudged as Man of the Series against Australia after he recorded a total of 193 runs in the three-match ODI series.

The Indian cricket team made it two wins from two as they beat hosts Australia in the three-match ODI series by the same scoreline with which they defeated them in the five-match Test series previously. While the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli starred in the Test series, it was old horse MS Dhoni who was the shining light in the Indian team during the recent limited-overs win on Australian soil.

Dhoni registered scores of 51, 55* and 87* against the Australian team in three games he played against them. In doing so, the Indian wicket-keeper earned major plaudits from across the globe for his performances against Aaron Finch & Co. One of the people to praise Dhoni was former Australian captain Michael Clarke who even compared the World Cup-winning captain to popular elite car franchise - Aston Martin.

“Dhoni has gone from a Lamborghini to an Aston Martin. He is still unbelievable. There is an adjustment. He is more experienced now, he knows his game better now. He acknowledges his partner at the other end more now.

“When MS Dhoni started, he didn’t need a partner. Whether his partner got a duck, scored a fifty or a century if they needed 50 off 20 balls, the partner’s job was to get Dhoni on strike. Now he knows how important it is for his partner to be able to find that boundary and lead up to Dhoni pressing gold. He’s had that in the last two games,” Clarke told Sony Six.

Prior to the tour, many experts and critics questioned the 37-year-old’s inclusion in the limited-overs team, especially with the emergence of Pant in the Test series win. However, Dhoni showed his class as he led India to their first-ever bilateral ODI series win on Australian soil as he amassed a total of 193 runs from three games and was also adjudged as Man of the Series.
