Pravin Amre applies for the position of Team India's batting coach
Former Indian batsman Pravin Amre, who is currently working as a batting advisor to USA cricket, has applied for the position of India's batting coach. He has emerged as a top contestant for the role after stories coming out that Sanjay Bangar didn’t do his job properly during his tenure.
Banger has held the position of Indian batting coach, starting from the tenure of Duncan Fletcher, for the last five years and has been assistant to Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri too. However, he has failed to deliver as per the expectations as the No.4 problem extended until the World Cup and ended up being one of the biggest reasons for India’s semi-final exit.
That is one of the major points of discussion in the last few days and amidst that, Pravin Amre has applied for the position of Team India's batting coach. Although Amre has a very modest international record as a player, he has been a revered name as a coach in Mumbai cricketing circle. Amre has been a regular on the IPL coaching circuit as well.
Last year, he was the scouting head of Delhi Capitals where he worked closely with Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly. Earlier, Amre had worked closely with Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane apart from Suresh Raina, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, and Robin Uthappa.
Currently, the former India batsman is working as a batting advisor to USA cricket and may have to give an undertaking of not being employed anywhere else if given the Indian coaching job.
