S Sreesanth heaved a sigh of relief as he claimed that he was grateful for the recent ruling after the Supreme Court revoked the life ban imposed by the BCCI on the former India cricketer. The Apex court has given the BCCI three months to revisit Sreesanth's punishment for his offences.

Sreesanth, now aged 36, rose to fame in the home series against England back in 2006 where he claimed 10 wickets at an average of 16.3, including a career best 6/55 in the final match in Indore. However, the controversial pacer will always be remembered for his involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal for which he was later found guilty by the BCCI.

The Indian governing body handed a life ban to the former Rajasthan Royals pacer for his part in the scandal and his World Cup medal was also stripped away. However, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Indian bowler as it revoked the life ban imposed by the BCCI on Friday.

"I need cricket back, I do not think it will take BCCI 90 days to make the decision but I am grateful that the life ban has been removed. I fought my battle all by myself. My practice is going on and the road ahead totally depends on the selectors.

"It was a huge fight and the Supreme Court has given me a lifeline. There were so many opportunities where I was even going to announce my retirement, but thank god I didn't. I have started staying fit to play the game, thanks to the T20 and T10 leagues, I can still earn my bread and butter somewhere. I am not bothered by my fitness as I am inspired by Leander Paes and Ashish Nehra, they both kept on playing even after reaching the age of 36. I just hope BCCI does not announce their decision on the 90th day, I hope they do it in a couple of weeks time," Sreesanth told reporters after the ruling.

The apex court gave the BCCI a time period of three months to re-evaluate the measure of punishment for the former pacer. The Indian governing body will have to decide on whether to impose a new punishment or leave any door open for Sreesanth to make a comeback to competitive cricket.
