Ravichandran Ashwin has been cleared to play six matches for Nottinghamshire County as part of preparation for the inaugural World Test Championship against West Indies. Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane penned a deal with Hampshire while Cheteshwar Pujara will represent Yorkshire in the County Championship.

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin will board the flight to England for a six-match spell with County cricket side - Nottinghamshire. The Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin has started his preparations for the inaugural World Test Championship. Ashwin will play alongside premier England fast-bowler Stuart Broad.

"Yes, Ashwin will be playing for the Notts this season. The CoA had already made it clear that any centrally contracted cricketer will have automatic rights to play County cricket if that player gets an offer. Ashwin's deal is almost final and only the CEO needs to sign his NoC," a senior BCCI told PTI sources.

This will be Ashwin's second stint in the English domestic circuit, having played four games for Worcestershire during the 2017 season, the 32-year old picked up 20 scalps and also scored 214 runs with the bat. Earlier, Indian Test team’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane had also penned a deal with County cricket side - Hampshire.

For now, Rahane, Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara (Yorkshire County team) will play county cricket in England in the coming months. Pacers - Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma - are also rumored to be in talks with other County teams may also feature in a few games.
