On the last day of releasing players, Friday, November 15, Chennai Super Kings have released England wicketkeeper Sam Billings. Apart from Billings, the Chennai-based franchise has also released all-rounder David Willey, Chaitanya Bishnoi, Mohit Sharma, and Dhruv Shorey, ahead of IPL 2020.

Earlier, on Thursday, the CSK franchise had announced that they would be releasing five cricketers from their cauldron and hence the Twitter tag of #Relea5ing. And now the aforementioned cricketers have been officially released. They are two more releases expected by the end of the day since the releasing window for the upcoming thirteenth edition of the IPL closes tonight.

Apart from Billings, Willey, Bishnoi and Shorey, injured Mohit Sharma has also been released. The estranged CSK player, Sharma was recruited once again by the Chennai team for the 2019 edition but now they had to let him go because of the injury woes.

In the last season, Willey did not feature for CSK as the England all-rounder was away due to personal reasons with his wife expecting their second child. Since it was not an injury, the franchise couldn't get a replacement as well. After all these releases, CSK will have close to Rs 15 crores in its kitty ahead of the auctions which to be held on December 19.
