Reports | Biju George likely to be axed as India Women's fielding coach

Despite seeing the fielding of the India women's cricket team improve leaps and bounds over the course of the last two and a half years, the BCCI are reportedly unwilling to extend the contract of incumbent Biju Geroge, who has been the fielding coach of the team since July 2017. 

According to a report by Sportstar, despite having an option to extend his contract, the BCCI are unlikely to persist with George. While the reason for the same is yet to be known, should they take it, it will definitely be a puzzling one, as the former Kerala Ranji coach has done wonders with the team in terms of both catching and ground fielding, visible from their impeccable display against the South African team in the T20Is. 

The news comes at an extremely critical time for the women's team, with the T20 World Cup just four months away. With CoA member Diana Edulji keen on having full-time staffs for the women's team, an interim option is unlikely to be considered and they might very well be in the hunt for a new coach.
