Ravindra Jadeja, who is now a regular in the Indian set-up across all formats, has stated that he sees himself as a proper all-rounder who can contribute with both bat and ball. After taking six wickets and scoring 70 runs in Vizag, the southpaw struck an impeccable 91 in the first innings in Pune.

Thanks to him being one of the best spinners going around in world cricket, there is a common misconception that Ravindra Jadeja is primarily a spinner who can chip in with the bat every now and then. But statistics suggest that Jadeja is in fact as good with the bat as he's with the ball, averaging more than 55 since the start of 2018.

After playing two valuable knocks of 30* and 40 in Vizag, the Saurashtra man once again tormented the South African bowlers in Pune, scoring an immaculate 91 to pile misery on them. Now, the 30-year-old has stated that he sees himself as a proper all-rounder who can contribute significantly on both fronts. Jadeja also insisted on the need to give his everything on the field irrespective of whether he's batting or bowling.

"I see myself as a proper all-rounder who can take any opportunity, it doesn't matter whether it's bowling or batting," Jadeja told bcci.tv.

"I need to give everything whether I am bowling [or batting.] If I am bowling, I need to take wickets, and if I am batting, I need to score in every innings. So, I don't see whether I am a batting all-rounder or a bowling all-rounder," he added.

Jadeja, who, in this series, has batted up the order thanks to the match situations, also said that the opportunities to bat higher have helped him in his batting, allowing to spend more time and assess the situation in the middle better. He has so far batted in two positions in this series, No.4 and No.6.

"I can say that I'm getting better opportunities. If I'm batting at No. 6, I get long time to spend in the middle. Whenever I go into bat, I just look to spend some time and then I start to play my shots. That's helped me a lot," the all-rounder concluded.

After having contributed with the bat, Jadeja will now shift is focus with the ball to inflict an innings defeat on the visitors.
