Australian left-handed explosive batsman D'Arcy Short has signed for Surrey in the upcoming season of the T20 Blast. He is Surrey's second overseas signing after Shadab Khan and will be replacing fellow Australian Aaron Finch who refused to extend his contract after an impressive last season.

D'Arcy Short is all set to rock the English T20 league with his explosive batting as he has signed up for Surrey in the upcoming edition of the Vitality T20 Blast. Surrey took this decision after Aaron Finch, who had an impressive last season with Surrey scoring 483 runs in 12 innings, refused to renew his contract with the side.

Short was very excited after his selection and is raring to go and play in England at the Oval which he believes is one of the finest grounds in the world.

"I enjoyed my time in the Blast in 2019. To have the opportunity to come back in 2020 and play in front of full houses at one of the best grounds in the world is brilliant," Short told CricBuzz.

"I am already looking forward to joining up with the boys and I thank all involved for the opportunity," he further added.

Alec Stewart, Surrey's Director of Cricket, was very pleased to have signed D'Arcy Short. His form for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League has been phenomenal for the past two seasons as he was their highest run-scorer in the last two seasons in a row. Stewart believes Short can do a great job at the top of the order and provide the team with a superb start or break the back of a target in the powerplay itself if they are set a target to chase down.

"D'Arcy was highly impressive with both bat and ball in this year's competition and we look forward to seeing him build on that in the 2020 season. With Aaron Finch unavailable, it was vitally important that we replaced him with a powerful batsman at the top of the order," Stewart said.

Surrey fans are lined up with a mouth-watering prospect of seeing D'Arcy Short and Jason Roy give their team explosive starts in the upcoming season of the T20 Blast.
