A month after kicking off limited-overs international cricket in Pakistan, Sri Lanka looks all set to bring Test cricket back to Pakistan as they look to send a strong team this time around. SLC chief Ashley de Silva has informed that most of the senior players have given their nod for the same.

Sri Lanka looks to become the first team to tour Pakistan for a Test series in a decade as they are all set to send an almost full-strength team to play two World Test Championship matches.

According to an ESPNCricinfo report, two SLC officials have termed the developments on the tour as “very positive”. Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva has shared that internal discussions have led to the “consent” of senior players for the tour, including those who pulled out of the previous one. The report also claims that a couple of players though haven't given a nod for the tour are still open for convincing.

Once the board’s executive committee approves of the tour, which is most probably to come within a week, according to de Silva, there will only be one significant factor which will decide the tour’s future. A security delegation is supposed to be sent by the SLC to sign off on the arrangements.

Although the board has commissioned reports on security plans for matches in Karachi and Lahore, which were acquired ahead of the recent limited-overs series, it doesn't include Rawalpindi. The headquarters of Pakistan’s military, Rawalpindi is the venue of the first Test match of the series while the second one will take place in Karachi.

If the tour goes as planned, the Sri Lankan team, which was the last team to play Test on Pakistan soil before the terror attack in March 2009, will also be the one to resume Test proceedings in the country.
