Hyderabad Cricket Association Electoral Officer V.S. Sampath confirmed, in a statement on Friday, that the date of filing nominations has been extended till September 21. The decision was in the wake of the Supreme Court definition for disqualification for the purpose of contesting elections.

The latest orders of the Supreme Court suggested that disqualification is to be confined only to those who have previously held positions in cricket associations. As per the update, the deadline to file nominations have been extended till 3 PM on Saturday.

“Disqualification shall be confined only to those who had held the post of Office Bearers of the Cricket Associations. A further opportunity is given for intending Members of HCA, who have not filed nominations so far, to file their nominations taking note of the definition of disqualification given by Supreme Court in the order cited above,” Sampath said, reported Sportstar.

“Accordingly, time for receipt of nominations is extended to September 21 from 11.00 am to 3. 00 p.m.,” he added.

Former secretaries Seshadri Venkateshwaran and K. John Manoj seized the opportunities immediately by filing nominations on Friday. While Sheshadri filed for the posts of president and secretary, the latter filed for vice-presidentship. From the ruling group, incumbent in-charge president K. Anil Kumar filed his nomination for the post of secretary, while G. Vivekanand for president. Earlier, Anil had filed a nomination for presidentship as well.
