Vijay Hazare Trophy schedule further modified after continuing washouts

A second change in the schedule of the 2019-20 edition of Vijay Hazare trophy has been made by the BCCI after Saturday once again saw matches being abandoned due to relentless downpour. According to the new schedule, as reported by ESPNCricinfo, abandonment of at least three more matches will lead to fixtures being played between the eighth and 17th of October, provided no team has to play two continuous matches. If such is the case, then the match in question shall go down as abandoned.

Previously, the BCCI had announced it will conduct play on the days previously determined as ‘rest days’ in Group A, while extending its period till the 17th of October instead of the original date of 13th. Now, Group B will also run for the same period of time, after Saturday’s three fixtures as per the new schedule were all abandoned without a ball being bowled. This means that Vadodara is yet to see a  match producing a meaningful result.

The matches scheduled for the 24th and 26th of September could not even have the toss being held owing to rains, while September 25 encountered clearer weather only for rain to play spoilsport in midst of the game causing it to get abandoned.

Dehradun has also been suffering from extremely bad weather and the play is completely washed out on the first two wash days but the BCCI has decided not to rework the schedule for the Plate Group.
