IPL 2020 | Will miss out of RR’s opening game against CSK, confirms Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler has confirmed that he is currently spending time in a seven-day quarantine period alongside his family and is set to miss out on RR’s opening game against CSK. It would be a massive loss for RR, who are already set to miss the likes of Ben Stokes and Steve Smith for the opener.
While CSK have been dealt with a plethora of blows before the start of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals are dealing with a tough time of their own. Just before their first game against Chennai Super Kings on September 22, the franchise have received a piece of bad news, with Jos Buttler set to miss out of the first game of the season.
"I'm unfortunately going to miss the first match for Rajasthan because I'm going to be doing my quarantine period because I'm here with my family - which is great that the Royals have allowed me to have my family out here," he confirmed on RR's Instagram live.
Confirming the same, the English opener took to Instagram to reveal that he is spending time under his seven-day quarantine period. The franchise is also expected to miss out on the services of Steve Smith and Ben Stokes. While Stokes has not yet arrived in the Middle East, Smith’s arrival has coincided with him still recovering from a case of concussion, after missing out on the ODI series against England.
“Jofra has been bowling seriously fast this summer. It’s been nice watching him brilliantly and fast. Steve is our captain, so I am sure he will have his name on the team sheet,” he said.
The English keeper also admitted that he is looking forward to competing against top sides, playing for RR this season.
“I am a huge MS Dhoni fan. Great to see him back. Also, Sanju Samson, I am a big fan of his batting. He has been in the IPL for a long time. He makes the game look easy when he is in form. Look forward to watching him score lot of runs for Rajasthan Royals,” he added.
On the other hand, he also expressed his excitement to meet Yashasvi Jaiswal, who would debut for the franchise this season, after his exploits in the U-19 World Cup, where he scored 400 runs for the Indian side.
“I have not met him yet but I am excited that he has joined the Royals. He has been doing brilliantly well for India U-19, he is such a huge talent. I am looking forward to meeting him and watch him bat. It is always get to see young Indian talents unearth in the IPL. I am glad that he is on the Royals side,” Buttler said.
