Legendary Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has apologised to S Sreesanth for the slapgate incident, saying he was ‘embarrassed’ because of slapping him during the inaugural IPL edition in 2008. Harbhajan has also mentioned that if he had a chance to rectify one of his mistakes, it would be that.

There had been plenty of buzz around the slapgate incident in 2008 when Harbhajan Singh slapped S Sreesanth during the inaugural edition of IPL. Harbhajan was leading Mumbai Indians (MI) in Sachin Tendulkar’s absence against Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings).

After the Kings won the match by 66 runs, two players met him in a traditional manner. But Harbhajan gave an aggressive send-off to Sreesanth by slapping him, after which the Kerala-born pacer broke down in tears.

On Glance LIVE Fest, Sreesanth and Harbhajan joined a video chat on Saturday. Harbhajan apologised to Sreesanth for that behaviour and revealed that he was ‘embarrassed’ because of that. He also mentioned if he got the chance to rectify one of his mistakes, it would be that gesture.

“What happened was wrong. I made a mistake. Because of me, my teammate had to face embarrassment. I was embarrassed. If I had to correct one mistake, it was how I treated Sreesanth on the field. It should not have happened. When I think about it, I feel there was no need," Harbhajan said on Glance LIVE Fest.

Incidentally, the two bowlers shared the same dressing room when India won the World Cup in 2011 under MS Dhoni. While Harbhajan had 711 international wickets in 367 matches across formats, Sreesanth had 169 wickets in 90 games.
