Jhulan Goswami, Mumbai Indians’ bowling coach-cum mentor, and head coach Charlotte Edwards will look to form a star-studded roster for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League. The long-awaited competition, for which many advocated in the past, will finally turn into reality on March 4.

Legendary Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, who was also requested by Delhi Capitals for the coaching position, will work alongside former English skipper Charlotte Edwards to create a formidable squad for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which is scheduled to begin next month. They will also have Devieka Palshikaar as the batting coach, and Trupti Chandgadkar Bhattacharya as the team manager who will guide them in order to establish a brute force.

Mumbai tried hard to get Smriti Mandhana, but Royal Challengers Bangalore took her away from them for INR 3.40 crores. Then they acquired Harmanpreet Kaur, India’s all-format skipper, for a considerably lesser price of INR 1.80 crores. After that, they broke the bank for English all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt for a whopping price of ₹3.2 Crores. They secured the services of star New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr as well, that too at ₹1 Crore.

Meanwhile, Pooja Vastrakar, India's talented all-rounder who can bowl at a decent pace as well, will also play for the Mumbai-based franchise. Then they got Yastika Bhatia, who can open the innings, can play in the middle order, and also keep the wickets with big gloves. Heather Graham and Issy Wong will strengthen the bowling department. Also, the side backed Indian cricketers in the form of Amanjot Kaur. Dhara Gujjar and Sadika Ishaque. In the accelerated auction, Mumbai bought Caribbean all-rounders Hayley Matthews and South African cricketer Chloe Tyron adding dynamic options to the roster.
