Australia and England to face off at MCG in 2027 for 150th anniversary of Test Cricket

"The 150th anniversary Test match at the MCG in March 2027 will be a wonderful celebration of the pinnacle format of the game at one of the world's great sporting arenas and we can't wait to host England on that occasion." Cricket Australia said in a statement. 

Cricket Australia has also confirmed the hosting rights for men's international Tests, ODIs, T20Is, and other matches for the next seven seasons, from 2024-25 to 2030-31. The MCG will continue to host the Boxing Day Tests, while the Sydney Cricket Ground will maintain its New Year's Test tradition, including the Pink Test, for another seven years.

Furthermore, starting from the 2025/26 season, Adelaide Oval will host the 'Christmas Test' each December, featuring both Day-Night and Day Tests. Perth will retain the rights to host the first men's Test of the summer until the end of the 2026-27 season.

CA CEO Nick Hockley said, “ We are delighted to confirm long-term hosting rights which provide certainty around the locations of some fantastic cricket over the next seven years.” 

Cricket Australia is also actively collaborating with the Tasmanian, ACT, and Northern Territory Governments on hosting rights for the next seven years. This includes working on key stadium development projects to ensure that as many people as possible across the country can attend international cricket events.
