‌WATCH, BBL | Daniel Sams goes berserk as Pope leaks 31 in penultimate over

Brute hitting is a thing in modern-day cricket where white-ball format produces some of the neatest strikers of the cricket ball. Daniel Sams personified such skill during Sydney Thunder’s season opener against the Adelaide Strikers at the SCG by smashing 31 runs off Lloyd Pope in the 19th over.

Winning the toss and electing to field first, the Thunder reduced the Strikers to 182 runs in the first innings, with Lockie Ferguson and Chris Green picking up three-fers. In response, Sam Konstas’ fifty to offer a great start was spoiled by their middle-order failure before Sams took control of the game and saw the Thunder past the finishing line.

The Men in Lime Green required 34 off the last two overs when Sams was at strike. The all-rounder forced a couple of sixes off fuller deliveries on the first couple of balls before Pope missed the radar and bowled a widish extra. A four through extra cover followed before the batter shuffled across the line to hook a short-pitch stuff over deep square leg region. Eventually, he banged a couple of fours through cover and straight on half-volleys to curtail the equation to 3 needed off the last and win by two wickets.

Wow Sams!!

Few players show the knack of being as high on confidence as David Warner is when he comes out to bat, yet amusing circumstances saw the batter hilariously punishing himself. The opener's bat was left dangling by the handle in Hobart on Friday and the willow ensured it left a mark on the Oz legend.
