WATCH, BGT | Rohit's Test woes continue as he loses bat-ball battle to rival skip Cummins yet again

The odds were stacked against India when they took the field on Day 4 in Brisbane in the third Border Gavaskar Trophy Test with the team trailing by 394 runs with just six wickets in hand. None of the top six bar the incumbent KL Rahul had managed to cross into double digits while skipper Rohit Sharma stood at the other end, having faced six deliveries the previous evening for no score. However, hopes for a draw remained strong given the frequent showers that have plagued the encounter and two innings still to complete in as many days. All eyes were on the experienced pair to help build a foundation for the same with a long partnership and while the former fulfilled his promise with a steady 84, the skipper's woes against his counterpart continued as he succumbed to Pat Cummins for a sixth time in Test cricket.

Rohit had made his way to 10 when Cummins took the Kookaburra in hand in the 24th over. The Aussie skipper landed the third ball full and angling into the fourth stump channel from over the wicket, tempting his rival into a drive. However, a wobbled seam meant the ball straightened ever so slightly after pitching but it was enough to take the outside edge of Rohit's willow and nestle safely into the hands of Alex Carey for India's fifth wicket. Rohit was unsurprisingly frustrated while Cummins wheeled away in celebration in what could prove to be a pivotal moment in the encounter.

It was the Indian skipper's seventh straight innings where he has failed to surpass 20 runs and has only one half-century in his last 13 innings.
