On a long day of a Test match, moments of fun that can provide much-needed entertainment. Such was the case in the Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa at Dhaka when Hasan Mahmud's wild throw ricocheted off Dane Piedt, resulting in a comical series of events amidst a run-out fumble.

‌Overnight batters Wiaan Mulder and Kyle Verreynne displayed excellent form as they attacked the Bangladesh bowlers, hitting occasional boundaries. The pair put together a solid 119-run partnership, lifting the score to 224/6. Both batters scored half-centuries, putting the Proteas in a strong position. However, their momentum was abruptly halted when Hasan Mahmud struck, dismissing Mulder and Keshav Maharaj in consecutive deliveries. As Verreynne and Dane Piedt remained at the crease, the visitors reached 243/8 in 71 overs when lunch was called. But just before lunch there came a hilarious moment mixed with comedy of errors.

On the last ball of the 69th over, Mahmud bowled a low full toss aimed at the off stump. Piedt expertly judged the delivery and drove the ball beautifully, but it deflected off Mahmud's right hand and struck the stumps. Despite this, Piedt took an unnecessary single, with Kyle Verreynne at the other end urging him to return. As Piedt hurried back, Mahmud attempted to throw the ball at the stumps but misdirected it, hitting Piedt in the back without causing any injury. The moment added an amusing twist to the day’s play.
