Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has been omitted from the squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy match. Shaw’s absence paved the way for left-handed opener Akhil Herwadkar who adds experience with 41 Ranji matches to his name and has been included in the Ajinkya Rahane-led squad against Tripura.

‌Shaw remains under scrutiny as his cricketing journey faces another setback, having been excluded from Mumbai’s squad due to fitness issues. According to a Cricbuzz report, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) did not specify a reason for Shaw's absence in their media release, but it is seen as a subtle warning for the 24-year-old opener, who has a history of disciplinary problems.

In response to the news, the batter posted an Instagram story indicating that he was taking a break. Shaw has played only two matches this season, scoring 7 and 12 against Baroda, and 1 and 39* against Maharashtra.

In Shaw's place, Akhil Herwadkar has been recalled for the upcoming match against Tripura in Agartala, with Karsh Kothari also returning to the squad. Kothari replaces Tanush Kotian, who has been called up for India A's tour of Australia.

Additionally, India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is absent from the squad following his request for leave due to personal reasons. The 16-man squad will be led by Ajinkya Rahane.
