Being the local favourite comes with great expectations but the calm demeanor of KL Rahul not only makes dealing with it look easy but makes him an instant fan favourite. Such is the adoration for him in Bengaluru that the crowd at the Duleep Trophy opener called for him to be made RCB skipper.

India A faced the tall-order of chasing down 275 on a tricky fourth day deck at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium after folding out India B in the opening session. Frequent wickets throughout the innings meant the chase never really looked on course as the side had crumbled to 76/4 by Lunch before being reduced to 99/6 soon after resumption. The onus fell on the experienced shoulders of KL Rahul to rescue his team from the precarious position and luckily for the Karnataka batter, the home crowd was completely behind him.

As Rahul battled through the conditions, the crowd at the Chinnaswamy started ringing with chants of 'KL Rahul, RCB captain'. The veteran batter was formerly part of the franchise in the Indian Premier League and played a swashbuckling role in their 2016 run where the side reached the tournament finale. Rahul went on to score a 121-ball 57 and albeit it did not prove enough for the team, the knock revived the long-standing adoration in the state's crowd for him and made for some amusing comments on Twitterati.
