In international cricket, Pakistan has faced criticism for their poor fielding, a trend that continues in domestic tournaments as well. This was evident in the One Day Cup match between the Dolphins and the Lake City Panthers, where Saim Ayub's attempt at a catch resulted in a disappointing mishap.

‌The Lake City Panthers had a rough start with the bat, losing their openers, Saim Ayub and Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, within the first five overs. However, Usman Khan delivered a stellar performance on the flat Faisalabad pitch, scoring a magnificent century, supported by Shadab Khan's 65 runs. Their total of 328 runs in 50 overs was ultimately achieved despite Usman Qadir's three-wicket haul. In response, the Dolphins made a promising start with Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Huraira forming a 68-run partnership, but a humorous moment occurred after Huraira's dismissal when Muhammad Akhlaq was given a lifeline due to a comical fielding error by Saim Ayub.

In the 18th over, Usama Mir delivered a fuller-length ball to Muhammad Akhlaq, who stepped out and expertly struck a powerful shot, sending the ball sailing over the boundary. Positioned at long off, Saim Ayub tracked the ball’s trajectory and made a clean catch. However, as the momentum carried him towards the boundary, he made a hasty throw, inadvertently sending the ball over the ropes and conceding six runs. Mir, stunned by the blunder, could only squat in disbelief, while social media erupted in amusement, highlighting Pakistan's ongoing fielding issues.
