The Indian team may be having a hard time if any Test was near, as Yashasvi Jaiswal suffers with health issues. He was hospitalised yesterday after facing issues with his stomach in the SMAT match. The BCCI is yet to issue a statement on his health, and update the fans for the same.

Every Indian fan was busy watching the IPL auction, and they have missed out on one thing. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a key Indian player was not well and eventually went on to be hospitalised. This happened in the match between Mumbai and Rajasthan, as Yashasvi Jaiswal was hospitalised during the game.

Jaiswal stepped out to open for Mumbai as usual. But he was suffering from stomach cramps, and he could not stay long at the crease. He was eventually dismissed and went on to get some check-ups in the hospital. While there is no such update from either Jaiswal or the BCCI, this matter has concerned the Indian fans to a great extent.

1. What Happened to Jaiswal?

After the match between Mumbai and Rajasthan came to an end, Yashasvi Jaiswal was rushed to the hospital. He had been experiencing pain in his stomach for a while, but it had increased to a great extent, which led to him being rushed to the hospital. Even though Jaiswal was not able to give his best to the team, Sarfaraz Khan and Ajinkya Rahane helped Mumbai to win.

A journalist reported that Jaiswal suffered from stomach cramps during the game. These were expected to be normal cramps but the pain intensified after the match came to an end. He was quickly taken over to the Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where the doctors ran some checks on him.

It was revealed that Jaiswal has been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis. He also went through CT and USG scans, which helped to know about the seriousness of the same. The doctors have advised Yashasvi Jaiswal with some medications and also told him to take adequate rest.

The BCCI is yet to release an official statement on the health of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Along with that, it is unclear for how much time he would remain out of action in both domestics and internationally. As of now, India is not having any Test match lined up ahead, which might ease them, as Jaiswal was a primary Test opener.

2. Jaiswal in SMAT

The youngster, Yashasvi Jaiswal, was having a great time in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is eager to mark his place in the Indian team's T20I side, for which this tournament seemed to be a good place. In three matches, he was able to score 145 runs for the team at an average of 48.8, and a strike rate above 160.

Along with that, it should also be noted that Jaiswal was able to score a century for the team in the match against Haryana. His journey in the current edition may have been cut short due to his health issues. But Jaiswal might be able to make himself available for the Indian Premier League, which is expected to start after the T20 World Cup 2026. It should be noted that he is not an active part of the team in ODI and T20I formats.

3. Jaiswal in 2025

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been among the top performers for the Indian cricket team in 2025. Whether it was Tests or ODIs, he has been able to do well for the team across formats. Jaiswal didn't get a good start to the year, registering low scores in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But he went to regain his form in the India tour of England.

Yashasvi Jaiswal in 2025:

  • Innings: 23
  • Not Out: 1
  • Runs: 916
  • Average: 41.63
  • Strike Rate: 69.23
  • 100s: 4
  • 50s: 3

In his first ever match in England, Jaiswal was able to smash a century in the second innings of the team. The England tour itself came out to be great for the Indian youngster, as he scored two centuries and two half-centuries for the team in the same. Following this, he also played for India in the home series against the West Indies and South Africa.

Against the West Indies, he once again smashed a ton, bringing up his best at the home games. He scored 175 runs for the team in the second Test, but was eventually run out due to a wrong call. Later in the series against South Africa, he had a disastrous run, scoring just one half-century in four innings.

But Jaiswal was able to redeem himself well in the ODI series against South Africa. He came to the team as a replacement for Shubman Gill, and even opened across all three games. While the first two games didn't go well for him, Jaiswal scored a ton in the third ODI, bringing up his maiden ODI century.
