1. Fastest Centuries List Updated
There was a time when players took time to complete a ton in the List A format. Typically, the 50-over format is known for the same, and players show patience to give their best to the team. Due to this reason, there had been a lot of time since someone smashed the fastest century in the List A format for their respective teams.
But in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26, this record has now seen a number of changes. And all of the changes came in just the first innings of the first few games of the tournament. Three players have now added their names to this list, which includes Sakibul Gani, Ishan Kishan, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
For a long time, Yusuf Pathan held this record for a long time with his 40 ball century. In the last edition, Anmolpreet Singh was able to get the record to his name, as he went on to score a century in just 34 balls. But his record has now been broken by not just one but two batsmen, pushing him to number three.
Sakibul Gani now holds the record of scoring the fastest century in the List A by an Indian player. Being the captain of Bihar, he was able to score 128 runs off 40 balls for the team, with 10 fours and 12 sixes. He completed his century in just 32 balls, creating the record of fastest ton in List A by an Indian.
It was a close competition between Ishan Kishan and Sakibul Gani for the same. Coming to bat at number six, he went on to unleash madness for Jharkhand. In the match against Karnataka, Ishan Kishan was able to complete his century in just 33 balls, proving to be a vital finisher for the team in the 50-over format.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also joined this list, as the youngster stands at number four. He was able to score his century in just 36 balls, and fans would be shocked to know that he took just 11 balls to reach from 50 to 100. It was unreal madness by the batters in just the first half of the game which has been played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy right now.
2. Bihar Etches History
It is not just individual records which have been broken in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team records have also been broken in this tournament, as it all started in the Plate Group match between Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh. Bihar was batting first in this game, and this helped the team to dominate.
First, it was Vaibhav Suryavanshi who went on to score 190 runs off just 84 balls with 16 fours and 15 sixes. The scoring rate just dropped a little in the middle overs before the team regained its form yet again. Ayush Loharuka was able to score 116 runs off 56 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes, while Piyush Singh also scored 77 runs off 66 balls.
In the death overs, Bihar's captain, Sakibul Gani took the charge. Gani scored 128 runs off 40 balls, with a strike rate of 320, which helped not just him, but also Bihar to break records. The team finished their innings by scoring 574 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. This is also the highest score by any team in the history of List A.
