AUS-W vs ENG-W | Twitter reacts to Lauren Bell’s unusual exit after suffering midmatch dizziness
Life is often an unexpected tale of events and the sporting world is a better example to cite. The ongoing second T20I between Australia Women and England Women was the centre stage to the latest of those examples when Lauren Bell left the field due to dizziness out of nowhere in Canberra.
Aiming to find their first victory in the multi-series Ashes, England decided to field first after winning the toss. A runout and Charlie Dean's impressive bowling drew the opening bloods coupled with Sophie Ecclestone's mastermind ploy to get rid of Beth Mooney at 44. With the score 83/4 in eleven overs, Ecclestone operated with the ball in the upcoming over, when a queer incident lead to Bell's exit from the field.
On the third ball of the twelfth over, Ecclestone bowled a length delivery outside the stumps, and Annabel Sutherland rocks back and cuts it behind the keeper towards the third man. Lauren Bell sprinting towards it failed to save it and grabbed his head with both arms after landing out of the ropes with momentum. She seemed in complete discomfort and kneeled then and there before the physio strolled into assess her. The on-air commentators felt Bell was suffering from sudden dizziness, and the Twitterverse was ready to burst in with comments.
